ICD Brookfield Place, Dubai

A construction site scene with workers and machinery

The proposed ICD Brookfield Place development located at the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) will comprise a 290 metre tall office tower of approximately 55 stories, with three podium levels above ground and seven basement levels below ground.

Construction of a previous development on the site was begun in 2007. Diaphragm walls were installed around three sides of the site, the basement was excavated and piles were installed in the basement floor, approximately 18m below ground level. However, the work stopped in 2009, and the basement was backfilled. The design and construction of the basement and piled foundation of the new ICD Brookfield Place had to be carried out taking into account the constraints posed by the previous development.

Coffey, along with Robert Bird Group developed the concept for the foundations and the basement construction for the new development. Once the contract was awarded, Coffey was then selected to act as independent checkers of the piled foundation and shoring wall design for the basement excavation.
